14: Allow me to introduce myself…
January 2025
Mambo! If you’ve found yourself here, you’re probably a fellow seeker of inspiration, creativity, and authenticity—just like me. Let me take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit with you.
I was born in Tanzania, raised in London, and now live in NYC. I am married with a daughter and a Goldendoodle.
A Passionate Product Designer
By day, I am a Product Designer for Walmart, where I channel my creativity and problem-solving skills to design solutions that make life easier for millions of people. I thrive in the intersection of functionality and aesthetics, constantly seeking ways to improve user experiences and create designs that truly resonate with people.
Photography: My Creative Outlet
When I’m not designing, you’ll often find me with a camera(iPhone) in hand, capturing fleeting moments of everyday life. Street photography is my passion—it’s where I feel most connected to the world around me. There’s something magical about freezing a split second in time, telling stories without words, and finding beauty in the mundane.
Through photography, I’ve learned to observe life more intimately, and to appreciate the details. Whether it’s the interplay of shadows and light, the candid expressions of strangers, or the vibrancy of a bustling street, my lens seeks to document the unscripted essence of life.
The Story Behind Wa-Tu
“Wa-Tu” is a space where creativity meets community. The name means people in Swahili my native tongue, and reflects my belief in the power of shared experiences and ideas. Here, I’ll showcase talented POC creatives from around the globe, share my thoughts on all things creative, and explore the journey of finding inspiration in the everyday. My hope is that this space becomes a source of encouragement and creativity for all who visit.
Join Me on This Journey
As I continue to explore and grow, I invite you to join me on this creative journey. Whether you’re a fellow designer, an aspiring photographer, or someone simply looking for a spark of inspiration, I hope you’ll find something here that speaks to you. Let’s connect, share stories, and celebrate the beauty of creativity together, driven by our POC community.
Explore the site, check out my photography @jer_selengia, and reach out if something resonates with you. Let’s make www.wa-tu.com a vibrant hub for ideas and connection.
